Beds are Burning

Midnight oil is a band from Sidney Australia. The song 'Beds are Burning', was one of their well known songs, and it became a top 10 hit for them in 1987.
I like this song because it is a song about the Indigenous Indians, who are also known as Native Americans.
I am including the lyrics to this song, so that you can understand what the Indians went through, when the 'White man' invaded their world and turned it upside down.

These are the lyrics:
Out where the river broke
The blood wood and the desert oak
Holden wrecks and boiling diesels
Steam in forty five degrees

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent
To pay our share

The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
Let's give it back

How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning
How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent, now
To pay our share

Four wheels scare the cockatoos
From Kintore East to Yuendemu
The western desert lives and breathes
In forty five degrees

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent
To pay our share
The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
Let's give it back

How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning
How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent, now
To pay our share
The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
We're gonna give it back

How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning

Now you can listen to the video, and sing along with it.

Do you have Indian in your family tree? I do, from my mother's side of the family, but I look like my dad's side of the family.
