Wild Wild West

The Band 'Escape Club' was formed in England and is categorized in the Alternative/ Pop Genre.

Escape Club's first album that was released in 1983 was named Wild Wild West, which also had a song on the album, with the same name.

That song climbed to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, more than likely, because it was aired on MTV constantly, but the video was banned in England because it was seen as being too offensive and sexist.

When I first saw the video I thought that it was a little over the top and somewhat vile as to how the naked legs looked when first seen, but then after that, it actually looked kind of cool when they were shown with a white back round instead of a darker one.

I would love to hear from you after you view this video to find out what you think about it.  Hopefully I will see your comments soon  :)

Positive or negative comments are welcome. I do not censor comments unless they are spam oriented.

Do They Know It's Christmas

You may be wondering why I would choose this song as one of my favorite songs from the 80's. I would say that it has to do with this song giving us more awareness about the people that were unfortunate enough to be born into a poor situation.

My hope has been that the billionaires of this world will unite together with a common cause to end the suffering and starvation of the people all around the world which wouldn't involve harming those people in any way.

This song made its debut on November 29, 1984.

Relax

When this song first came out I remember seeing a video on MTV and I instantly thought that this song sounded very cool.

The fact that this song ended up being banned from being played on some of the UK radio stations, and had still continued to climb up the charts, is either because we all have a little bit of perversion in us, or that we didn't realize, at that time, that this song was an anthem for the beginning of the homosexual revolution.

To me it was just a very cool sounding song that a person could dance to, without thinking about what the lyrics were really implying, which was advice for males to prolong their love making technique.

Holly Johnson, the lead vocalist of the band 'Frankie Goes To Hollywood', was diagnosed with HIV in 1991. He then made a decision to devote much of his time with painting artistic pictures, beginning in the mid 1990s, instead of being in the public eye.

I chose a live version video of the song "Relax" because I felt that the banned video seemed to be too intense for younger viewers who might stumble across this blog.

So Far Away

The song 'So Far Away' sang by Dire Straits was one of their cooler songs that was released in 1985 and made it to #19 on the U.S. Billboard Chart.

I find it to be a song fitting for long distance relationship because I have experienced a few of them myself and I know how difficult it is to maintain that kind of relationship.

My interpretation of this song may not be the real meaning of this song, but that is what is cool about music, you can interpret the songs anyway that you want to.

This is the video for the song and I hope that you will enjoy listening to this song, as much as I do, every time that I hear it play.

Closer To Fine

The song "Closer To Fine" made its debut in 1989. The 'Indigo Girls' were formed by Amy Ray and Emily Saliers.

When I first heard this song I found it to be a cool up beat type song. I enjoy singing along whenever I hear it play.

The Indigo Girls music is a modern type of American Folk Rock. Closer to fine did not make it to the top 10 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart, but instead made it to #52. It did however climb higher on the U.S. Modern Rock chart. It reached #26. The song also climbed to #48 on the U.S. Main Rock chart. The only other chart that it showed up on that wasn't in the U.S. was Canada.

I hope that you will enjoy this song as much as I do, but if not no problem because there will be more songs for you to find and enjoy on this blog in the future.

Dr. Feelgood

Mötley Crüe's first American Top Ten hit "Dr. Feelgood" peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 28, 1989.

"Dr. Feelgood" is Mötley Crüe's only Gold single in the U.S. It is their highest ranked single to this day.

When I first heard this song I knew that this band wasn't just another hair band. They were cool when they did a concert and the spinning over head drum set made for Tommy Lee was praised for adding an even cooler element to their concerts.

Here is the video for you to view and rock out to.

Tarzan Boy

The song 'Tarzan Boy' was a cool dance song that came out in 1985. The band who sang it was called 'Baltimora'.
This song made it to #6 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play charts, and made it to #13 on the U.S. Hot 100 charts.

The lead vocalist Jimmy McShane was diagnosed with AIDS in 1994. He then died in 1995 while living in Ireland.
